Director of Interiors
“The senior residential market demands an extremely high level of client input unlike any other form of commercial real estate. As the Vice President of Design, it is my responsibility to merge that critical client input with the demanding construction side of our premiere, upscale senior living projects.”
Maricita Hughes has been a persistent driving force behind the design of Isakson Living projects since she and Andy Isakson first started working together on commercial office buildings and retail centers in the 1990s. Prior to that Maricita worked at the architectural firm of Gary B. Coursey & Associates.
As a graduate of Georgia Tech, her knowledge and training in construction and design have been essential in achieving Isakson Living’s demanding hands-on design standards. Her work with Blount Brother’s construction provided experience in managing larger construction projects both from a time and cost perspective. Her background in selling & managing commercial real estate equipped her to work closely with developers.
Maricita embraced the opportunity to enter the senior residential market with Isakson Living in 1998 through its flagship senior project Park Springs, a distinctively high-end continuing care retirement community on 54 acres in Stone Mountain. As the liaison among the sales team, their clients and the construction team, she gained valuable information about the needs and desires of senior residential market clients which she has been able to implement in the design of Peachtree Hills Place in Buckhead, Isakson Living’s latest upscale senior living venture.
Currently Maricita is on the Board of Directors at the Georgia Institute on Aging. Also, she is an active member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, the Atlanta HBA 50+ Housing Council, and the Professional Women in Building Council affiliated with NAHB. As the result of her passion for sustainable building practices, she has been instrumental in securing key “green crusader” speakers who have constructed LEED-certified housing projects in the Atlanta area. She has also been a consultant at Shaw Industries on product designs for their entry into the senior housing market.
Maricita was raised internationally in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Switzerland. Consequently, she has a love of travel. She currently lives in Johns Creek with her teenage son who will be pursuing his passion for engineering in college next year.
