Developer Terminates Contract on 53.7-Acre Parcel in Marietta
September 22, 2016 – Mrs. Wylene Tritt and Isakson Living, the Atlanta-based developer of successful retirement communities such as Park Springs in Stone Mountain, filed a voluntary dismissal of their joint civil action against the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. In March 2015, the Cobb County Commission denied Isakson Living’s zoning change request to a “CCRC” category for Isakson Living’s proposed Tritt Walk continuing care retirement community.
Simultaneously, the company has also terminated its contract with Mrs. Tritt to purchase her undeveloped 53.7-acre property along Roswell Road in Marietta where Tritt Walk would have been located.
“After more than three years of negotiations followed by mediation and ultimately litigation, we have determined that we will not be able to realize the superb retirement community we envisioned Tritt Walk to be,” says Kevin Isakson, Director of Sales and Marketing with Isakson Living.
“We have worked extensively with elected officials including the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, as well as representatives of adjacent neighborhoods and civic and community-based organizations, to address their concerns and incorporate their feedback into our plans for Tritt Walk. We have made multiple revisions and reduced the number of residences at Tritt Walk significantly; however, no further reductions are possible if we are to provide the Isakson Living level of services and accommodations.”
Isakson expresses his gratitude to the many friends and supporters of Tritt Walk, and to Mrs. Tritt and her family who have been champions of premier retirement living in East Cobb.
East Cobb is home to the highest concentration of residents over the age of 65 in all of Cobb County, and the county’s 65+ population is projected to grow more than 150% in the next 25 years.
